Inspired by the idea of breaking with tradition, Abi Hackling Photography styled a same-sex wedding that is elegant, moody and untamed…

‘We wanted to push boundaries with dress colour and dramatic styling. The raw wooden trestle table and benches worked well in contrast with the rich, black sands of the Taranaki coastline, and the yellows and gold of the sandstone cliffs complemented the soft blues of the hand-dyed wedding skirt. These brass tones were echoed in the candlesticks, lanterns, gold-foiled invitations, golden lettering on the agate place names and the edible gold leaf of the cake. Feathers, ferns and toi toi added a natural and loose element to the bouquet, which included a statement king protea and blush roses. Hand dyed silk ribbons floating delicately in the wind, completed the look.’
